Suburbs in the Jieh

Postby Charbel » Sun Mar 16, 2008 1:05 pm

Was browsing through the Jieh Phone Book, Jieh section, and was taking down notes on the various "sections" in the Jieh.

Anyone have a map on how the Jieh is divided?

- Alhara
- Beit Chahin
- Beit Hatem
- Beit Madi
- Kassouba
- Kassouba Al Tahta
- Maksabeh
- Sahl
- Taht Alchir

I shall, again, respond to the call of the community rather than sit and preach and criticise unproductively....

I do not claim to grasp a geographic knowledge of it but i'll give it a shot

I was wondering what's the best way to that. Some of the latest pics on main site can be easily marked to show hara, beit madi, beit hatem, ta7t elshir and maybe Beit Chahin but Assouba, Sahl and Maksabe are too far and hard to point out.

An arial view such as Google map extract may be the best.

On a side note, few of these pictures show nab3a like tall buildings in the horizon just beyond saadiyet, which city that suppose to be?

I concur, I believe that a satellite image would be a good way, as we can pinpoint exactly where everything is situated,

prince cadmus, i would be more than happy to assist you
i also suggest that evertime you add a diffrent suburb to the map you save a diffrent copy, this will make it easier if we need to revise it.

good idea. perhaps on an accompanying map, you could point out land for sale/price/etc.. like a mini real estate section. this would be great.

It's coming, sorry I've been busy over the past two weeks with the Our Lady fundraiser.. I've got a sketchy map drawn by hand and it could be totally wrong. I'll upload it tomorrow

You beat me to it, I haven't had much time to put mine up..
I would probably extend SAHL part more north as well though, up until where the little wharf is in the middle of where Maksabeh is.. and Maksabeh would go north from there... What about Kassouba Tahta? would you enlarge Kassouba then split it in two, where the lower half would be the Kassouba Tahta part that meets the main road or something?

Also, where the Baladiye is, is that regarded as Kassouba Tahta or is it Sahl because its below the main road on the seaside?

Thank you for that, a well and appreciated effort

But a few questions

Is the yellow line the border line?

Why did you fall short of including my house and Kamil Amins in the Hara District?

Why is Istez Francois’s house also left outside a district?

Zamat Dr Nassif he made into the village lol

What’s the area called were your old man has green houses?

Talet al Raheb and talet Abou Hussein do they belong in a particular district?

Also a valid point raised by Cadmus regarding the baladiyee, I think the sahal starts from mary salims house. I could be wrong as you have also included mafra2 sheikh chahine and abou chaoki supermarket in the sahel district. Al3a should be extended a little further east to include the demase’s and the shaers and shawish. Hara one mm west to include me and kamil amin.

We should now work on further improving the map and working on not just the Geographic’s of Jieh but also on the demographics. This is very vital particularly if we want to maintain a majority on the village council. We need to know the numbers and numbers of each sect.
